about

No running, no smoking, no bombing is an unreleased EP from 2001, the fruits of Swimmer One's first ever visit to a recording studio. At the time we'd been making music together for a few months, and were still very much finding our voice. In the end we decided it didn't quite achieve the standards we'd set for ourselves, sounding like a demo rather than a finished product. So we went back to the drawing board, and a few months later came up with our debut single, We Just Make Music For Ourselves.

We still quite like these songs, though, and now that we have two albums under our belts we thought it might be nice to share these early Swimmer One recordings with you. How Could Something Like That Be Love, as some of you will know, was rerecorded for our second single. And if you're paying very close attention, you'll spot that part of the lyric for Here was later reused in Regional, one of the songs on our debut album, The Regional Variations, on sale elsewhere on this site.

You can download these songs for free if you like. Enjoy.

about

Swimmer One are from Scotland, and write and record their experimental pop music in a disused church in Edinburgh. Their ... more music has been compared to everyone from the Pet Shop Boys and the Associates to the Blue Nile and the Who. They have made two albums to date, The Regional Variations (2007) and Dead Orchestras (2010). less
